Religion - Mrs. Margie Smith
Mrs. Smith is the Director of Religious Education for Our Lady on the River Parish. She also shares her knowledge of the Catholic faith by teaching our 7th and 8th grade religion classes. Mrs. Smith provides guidance to our classroom teachers.
Our faculty is committed to providing an education that is rooted in our faith.One hundred percent of our teacher hold catechetical certification from the Archdiocese of Detroit. All teachers engage in annual enrichment classes to strengthen and renew our teaching.
Religion, 8th Grade Homeroom Religion in the seventh grade is the study of the life of Jesus. Begin Confirmation preparation. One semester on "Who Am I" (self identity). In the eighth grade, we will study the history of the Catholic Church. Confirmation preparation continues, and Confirmation is celebrated in the spring. One semester on "What About Sexuality." Library: grades K-8.

RELIGION
* History and structure of the Catholic Church * Early Church history found in the New Testament, with emphasis on the Acts of the Apostles and the Epistles * The councils, heresies and schisms, monasticism, Crusades and Protestant Reformation * Trace Church in America from its immigrant roots * Sexuality study rooted in Scripture and guided by Church documents * Dating, life choices and commitment * Reflect on personal talents and possible ways these might be used to serve the Church and/or society * Perform service projects in line with the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy
